Short Bio and Contact
If there’s one word that characterizes Phil perfectly, it’s passion. Indeed, when he was a young child, the Dubliner already felt strong emotions while playing music. And his talent was soon noticed, as his first TV appearance happened when he was 10 years old. Shortly after that, he toured the Stella Cinemas as the opening act for Ken Dodd, singing folk songs. It seemed to be obvious: music would be his future.
He then joined numerous folk bands playing in bars and theatres, whilst still in primary school. Phil later studied to grade 8 theory at the RCML under Prof Jeanne Byrne. But studying was obviously not the path he wanted to take. He thus went on to work in Lad Lane studios where he was assistant engineer. There, he recorded many well-known Irish bands first demos, whilst still gigging in Ireland with folk bands Wiskie Styl, The Druids, The Noble Clan and many others.
After this already promising start, Phil was delighted to be able to work amongst some great musicians, around the world. He indeed moved to London and toured the UK Europe and USA, playing with other world class musicians. Among these great names of the world of music, Phil has worked with members of Them, Jetro Tull, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, The Fixx, Taj Mahal, and even Wings, to name just a few. He also had the chance to be mentored by the late Gus Dudgeon, the famous record producer who took part to Elton John’s fame. Gus even recorded some of Phil songs in an attempt to launch his band to stardom.
After working in many rock bands and also dance club bands in London, he continued his musical career as a producer and arranger, working with other artists in his own studio in west London. He continues today to write songs and occasionally can be seen gigging around the UK at festivals, also in church on Sundays at St Nicholas Perivale.
This last point is fundamental. As a born again Christian, Phil decided to use his talent to make the world a more peaceful and God-filled place. He likes to compose worship/praise songs to inspire his brothers and sisters. It’s a real success, insofar as The Kingdom Choir, which performed at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, also performed Phil’s co-written “Lords Prayer” as the opening song at all venues on both their UK and USA Tours. Firstly performed at the 100 year Armistice concert to the heads of state and the Royal family.
His composition has thus been heard and shared at the Hollywood Bowl, facing 60,000 seats, and at the Albert Hall with its 8,000 seats and all across the USA and Canada as well as the UK.
